Claims from the manufacturer:
Jil Sander Sun Shake is a fresh, fun and cheerful scent that carries the atmosphere of summer all year round.
It is the first patented bi-phase perfume that subtly fuses the tropical colors by shaking the bottle.
It is an oriental-fruity-floral scent with opening notes of bergamot and citruses. The middle notes are pink grapefruit and frangipani. BAse notes are the musk, heliotrope and precious woods.
My experience:
Jil Sander Sun Shake eau de toilette has been so far the greatest perfume discovery this winter. I am a very big fan of fragrances containing citruses, white florals, sandal wood and moss. This baby has left me speechless because it just instantly reminded me of my vacations in Caribbean. I know it is unusual for me to write about something like a perfume but I am doing my best for you today trying to describe this precious find of mine.
Perfume is always something personal and changes with the moods or wishes of it’s user. Sometimes the minor changes in the body chemistry make the biggest difference in how a certain scent opens up on the skin or how long it lasts. One very important aspect in wearing a perfume is to fit it with the right mood and weather. Considering that it’s been hell of a rainy winter here in NL, my heart was dying for some sunshine. It is not always possible to affect weather but it is possible to change the perspective of mood despite the dark gloomy days surrounding you in a winter. To me the Jil Sander Sun Shake is the best example of a mood changing scents no matter how warm or cold it is outside. This is the smell that makes me feel happy!
So how does the happy smell? To me it smells of a fresh sea breeze, holidays, warmed up skin, sunlight, cocktails, laughter and tropical flowers. And somehow the brand has managed to stuck it all into one bottle. This is the pure joy of summer, long beach walks and warmth stuffed in a tiny little glass jar with white cap. There is nothing spectacular about the design of the bottle. Knowing Jil Sander perfumes, the bottle is kept quite classic and it has a white cap. Overall a clean look. The perfume inside the bottle is bi-phased with honey colored top layer and coral orange bottom. once you shake the bottle the entire thing turns into a nice coral orange. You can also skip the shaking part as the scent will remain the same.
I don’t know much about the perfumery even though I am a huge fan of fragrance and I adore well balanced scents. To me this is one of them. I’ve spent less than 20 euros on a bottle containing 100 ml of edt thanks to some kind of deal and I will purchase more of it next time I am in Douglas. I can’t believe that something this affordable can smell so delicious and evoke so many good memories. It is a definite mood changer in my book ? If you like light and airy summery scents like Olympea, Elie Saab in White, and Chloe Fleur de Parfum, you should definitely investigate this one.
