Today I am reviewing my nr 1 skin brightening mask that does an amazing job at controlling my post pregnancy hyper-pigmentation spots. Let me present to you the mighty Lange Paris Intensive Lightening Mask.
Claims from the manufacturer:
Inhibits melanin synthesis and skin pigmentation
Eliminates superficial dead cells, excess sebum, impurities and toxins
50 ml
Made in France
Directions from the manufacturer:
Suitable for the sensitive skin, this lightening mask should be used 2x week. Cleanse the face and neck with the lightening lotion using a cotton pad. Apply mask in a thin layer and smooth it over the face and neck. Product should be almost transparent once applied. Wait 10 minutes and gently wipe away with a warm wet cloth. Rinse away the remaining residue with warm water. Pat your skin dry.
Ingredients:
Active ingredients: Sunflower oil (contains omega-3 and omega-6 which moisturise skin); Soy oil (firming, tightening, smoothing and reduces dark spots); Glycerin (moisturizer of vegetable origin); Bearberry Extract (contributes to skin lightening and acts on depigmentation areas); Arbutin (a natural derivative of hydroquinone that inhibits the activity of tyrosinase and thus reduces the production of melanin); Allantoin (softens dry skin and is a soothing, effective repairing agent that accelerates cell regeneration); Panthenol (soothing and moisturizing properties), and Bascillus ferment has soothing effect
Other ingredients: Aqua (water), paraffinum liquidum (mineral oil), kaolin, caprylic/capric triglyceride, glyceryl stearate, palmitic acid, stearic acid, ci 77891 (titanium dioxide), pentylene glycol, butylene glycol, triethanolamine, sodium benzoate, chlorphenesin, o-cymen-5-ol, parfum (fragrance), buteth-3, sodium benzotriazolyl butylphenol sulfonate, benzyl salicylate, diacetyl boldine, tributyl citrate, ci 42090 (blue 1), ascorbyl glucoside, glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice) root extract
My experience:
My first time using Lange Paris Intensive Lightening Mask mask was around 2 years ago. I hated it. The skin turned bright red on the areas it was applied and I looked like a Rudolf the reindeer with a glowing-red nose. After few months that it was laying in my "meeh" products drawer I decided to try it again. I read the instructions, applied the mask, waited for 10 minutes and I was shocked how good it was. I couldn't figure out what happened to me the first time so I just continued using it as normal.
At one point I thought "oh, let's do a thicker layer, it will work better". Boy, was I wrong. Same Rudolf the reindeer situation happened after 10 minutes of masking. I've learned it the hard way with this one that following the instructions was important, especially in wash-off masks. Mask has a very creamy consistency and it never entirely dries out on your skin. It has a lovely blue color and is easy to wash off. I use wet sponge and there is no residue left on my skin afterwards.
If I remember it correctly, I'm on the 3rd jar of this and I am definitely using it twice a week in coming months. Sunscreen or not, my skin gets an increase in activity of all the pigmentation spots around spring-summer. After sunny vacations this one is a life-saver as well. In the winter 1x use is enough if you use vitamin C or niacinamide in your normal routine.
One thing I don't understand though is why company decided to split ingredient list in 2. I can't see any details on concentration of active ingredients so it makes me question as in how much stuff do you add in it, Lange Paris? This mask is suitable for all skin types and will be most beneficial for more dry and/or mature skin. If your skin is very sensitive, do not keep it on longer than 5 minutes. Just to be on a safer side 🙂
Pros:
+ Impressive brightening results! Meet's the claims 100% My pigmentation issues are under control thank's to it
+ Luxorious packaging
+ Lovely mild marine scent
+ Creamy clay texture that doesn't dry the skin out
+ Mask comes with a protective seal that you firs have to remove
+ Box contains the small plastic lid and the spatula for a more hygienic use
Cons:
— Hard to find in the stores
— Ingredients list is split into 2 halves so you don't know what the actual order of the ingredients is (for me it is important for knowing the concentrations of things)
— Full price of 45€ is a personal downside since 🙁 I use it quite often
— Ingredients list is unclear to customer
