SKINFOOD Jellyfish Marine Food Gel Mask is part of the 5 hydrogel masks from the Marine food series launched by SKINFOOD couple of years ago. They are not easy to find in EU even though they are of an excellent quality for people with oily skin type. This particular Jellyfish mask is my most favorite from the entire range.
Claims from the manufacturer:
A refreshing and moisturizing gel mask infused with jellyfish extracts and blue marine complex for intense hydration to soothe a sun-stressed complexion.
Jellyfish are thought to be “immortal” and may help reverse aging. They are 95% water and help activate collagen absorption and hydration.
Directions from the manufacturer:
Extract mask and tightly apply on facial skin, following the contours of your face. After about 10-15 minutes, remove the sheet and pat face to absorb the remaining essence. Apply any remaining essence in the pouch to your neck and body.
Ingredients:
Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ceratonia Siliqua Gum, Chondrus Crispus Powder, Sodium Polyacrylate, Cellulose Gum, Polysorbate 20, Jellyfish Extract, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Trideceth-6, Algae Extract, Laminaria Japonica Extract, Gelidium Cartilagineum Extract, Salicornia Herbacea Extract, Sea Water, Disodium Edta, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance
My experience:
SKINFOOD Jellyfish Marine Food Gel Mask is so good. First of all I do not see this mask as an anti-aging product, containing the jellyfish extracts and all. To me it is a good skin refreshing and hydrating mask that helps me with reducing oil production on the important days. This time the occasion was not too special as I took a whole bunch of masks to review on my vacation.
The mask comes in gorgeous blue packaging that is easy to open. Unfortunately the back side is all in Korean so no idea what it says there. Inside the pack there are 2 pieces of hydrogel (for upper and lower halves of the face). Each piece is protected by 2 pieces of plastic shielding, one thinner and one hard one. The scent of the essence is amazing. It reminds me of a fresh spa-balm they once used on me during hammam. It is floral and marine at the same time. Very yummy. Essence is transparant and semi-liquid ensuring that this mask won’t glide of your face.
The adherence and fit are as good as they can be wit a hydrogel. The luxuriously thick gel hugs my face in the right places. The eye cutouts are also well positioned and have a nice cut so that the edges of the mask don’t irritate the area close to my eyes. There is a thin sheet of fabric embedded in the gel and sometimes they may cause irritation in the areas with sensitive skin.
After 30 minutes I feel like I can still go on with this mask but I don’t do it as I feel that my skin is supercharged with moisture. What is very lovely about this mask is that it leaves no tacky residue at all. On the contrary, I am left with semi-matte finish and super soft skin. Loving this mask series a lot. Would I recommend it? Yes, if you have oily and dehydrated skin. This version and the seaweed one are most suitable for you. If your skin is more on the normal-dry side, get the oyster or sea cucumber mask.
